Miracles of the holy Quran

Great Scientific Miracles of the Holy Quran

The Holy Quran, which is the book of Allah, was revealed to the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) through the Angel Gabriel more than 1400 years ago. The Quran was not sent down in one single revelation as a complete book, rather it took 23 years for the entire Quran to complete. The Quran has been divided into 114 chapters also called Surahs. It has 6,236 verses also called Ayats. Different Ayat’s and Surah’s were revealed according to the circumstances to provide guidance to the Prophet with regards to that particular event, belief, or question asked by non-Muslims.

The First Revelation:
The first Ayats were revealed in a cave called ‘Hira’ where the Prophet (peace be upon him) used to meditate and pray in seclusion. It was the year 610 CE when the Prophet was at the age of 40 and busy in contemplation that the Angel Gabriel appeared before him and said: “Iqra” (Read). “I can’t read”, replied the prophet. The Angel embraced him heavily and again said “Iqra” to which the Prophet Muhammad gave the same answer. Gabriel embraced him with more power and commanded to repeat after him and read the following verses. This time, Muhammad repeated after him.

“Read in the name of your Lord, Who has created
Created man, out of a cell of congealed blood:
And read, The Lord is Most Bountiful,-
Who taught (the use of) the pen,-
Taught man what he did not know.”

The very first word Iqra meaning Read in the very first revelation also testifies the significance of education in Islam.

Miracles of the Quran

The Holy Quran provides guidance in every aspect of life. It is a book meant to guide the entire humanity and all generations to come. Whether it is personal, social, economic or political life, the Quran offers complete guidance and insights. As the Quran is the direct words of Allah revealed to the holy prophet and later transcribed, there is no doubt in the factuality of its teachings or predictions.

Scientific Miracles:
Modern science has confirmed the many events that were predicted fourteen centuries ago. The Quran says:

“He is the creator of the heavens and the earth.” (6:101)

Contemporary science has reached the conclusion that the universe came into existence as a result of a massive explosion known as “big bang” that occurred in no time.

Quran talked about the expansion of the universe at a time when astronomy was in its infancy.

“And it is We who have constructed the heaven with might, and verily, it is We who are steadily expanding it.” (The Quran, 51:47)

The word “heaven” has been used in the meaning of space and universe at several places in the Quran. Today, modern science has come to the conclusion that the universe expands.

The Quran also informed us about the Relativity of time, the roundness of the Earth, the proportion of rain, the layers of the atmosphere and numerous other facts which have been proved by modern day science.

The miracle of Uniqueness:
This is the greatest miracle of the Quran. Arabs at the time of the prophet were great poets and eloquent speakers and were very proud of their language. They would call the Quran a fabricated book. Allah challenged them in the Quran.

“Do they say, He has fabricated it?’ Say, ‘Then bring ten Surahs like it, fabricated, and invoke whomever you can, besides Allah, should you be truthful.’” (11:13)

In another place, the Quran says:

“Say: If the whole of mankind and Jinns were to gather together to produce the like of this Quran, they could not produce thereof, even if they backed up each other with help and support.” (The Quran, 17:88)

The doubters of the world are challenged in the Quran to produce a book like it and have produced none.

The miracle of preservation:
Quran is the only book which is completely intact since its revelation. Not a single word has been added, deleted or modified in it. Allah says in the Quran.

“We have, without doubt, sent down the Message; and We will assuredly Guard it (from corruption)” (15:9).

Millions of Muslims around the world have memorized the Quran word by word which is also the main source of preservation.

No contradictions:
The Quran is free of contradictions. There is no contradictory statement, be it in scientific explanations, geology, historical facts or events, or prophecies. The Quran says:

“Had it been from other than Allah, they would surely, have found in it (the Qur’an) many contradictions.” (The Quran, 4:82)

The above-mentioned miracles are only a few of the countless miracles of the Quran. The Quran is the true and last book of Allah and learning, understanding and acting upon it is a guarantee of success and prosperity in this world and the next.
